So it says that if you are 154 you burn 503 calories doing the 30 day shred for one hour, but each level is only 27 minutes. I\’m 192 right now. I love the 30 day shred but I know it would really help me to know what I am burning. Could anyone tell me what I could burn for each level? Thanks so much!

    2. Krista@June 26th, 2009

If my figures are correct, for your weight and a 27 minute workout, you should burn 282 calories.

    3. Caroline@July 4th, 2009

I\\\’m 125 pounds and did the workout for 25 minutes.. could someone please calculate how many calories that would burn? please and thanks !! ( :

    4. Emalee@July 26th, 2009

Going by Krista\’s figure and assuming they\’re right, then you would burn roughly between 183 and 184 per every 27 minutes.

    5. P.j@August 17th, 2009

how many calories would i have burned if im 260 lb and did the day1 workout for the 30 day shread.

    6. Melanie@August 21st, 2009

I am at 208 right now. I am on day 5 of the 30 day shred. I can actually do a little more then I could on day 1 (I needed alot of breaks the first few days), but I still am not able to the the entire 3 circuits without taking a break. Does anybody know how many calories I am burning doing this workout?

    7. emma@October 6th, 2009

i just want to say that this is an awesome workout. i started out at 132lb, am now 126lb and have lost quite a few cm all over and only just started level 3 today.
i have to admit i havent been doing it every day, i started about 5 weeks ago, and have had a couple of breaks (when i got my period for instance) for a few days and so i would either start the level I was on again or just continue where i left off).

this is the first time i have actually stuck to a workout plan and i think partly because jillian is so awesome and enthusiastic without being facetious. It IS tough, but i just keep thinking SO AM I.

after i finish level 3 im planning on alternating level 3 of Shred with Jillians Blast Fat and Boost Metabolism (apparently more cardio focused, goes for 40 mins) maybe one of each every second day, as a maintenence plan. I wanted to lose around 16lbs and i can definitely see it happening within 2-3 months at the rate im going (I\\\’m also tracking my calorie intake using The Daily Plate at Livestrong.com).
I have been waiting to get motivated to do this for about 15 years. I can\\\’t speak highly enough of this workout tool

    8. brooke@October 19th, 2009

just keep it up. doesnt matter how many calories your burning just keep doing it. i started out at 155lbs and now i weigh 130lbs. in a month and a half. just make sure you are eating 1 chicken breast a day.(protein=energy). eat a dry granola bar in between meals with a big glass of water. eat dinner earlier, about 5:30-6:00pm.
hopfully this will help you to looking hot for next summer

    9. stacy@November 18th, 2009

I love the 30 day shred!:)) Awesome workout and muscle toning. I would like to know how can u lose actually 20 pounds by doing only this because she says this replaces hours at the gym. U would definately burn more calories at the gym. Does anyone else use this and the gym?? I have only been doing this to see if it works followed by a pretty strict diet.

    10. James@November 25th, 2009

I have been doing the shred for quite a while now just to maintain my weight. While I do enjoy the workout I\’m surprised that the calorie count isnt higher, it\’s kind of dissapointing to find out I may only be burning 200 calories during the workout. When I treadmill I generally walk 2 miles and my calorie counter on the treadmill says I burn around 380 calories for 2 miles, roughly I walk it in 28 mins or less.

I do enjoy the strength and ab training in the shred as you dont get that with just treadmilling.

    11. Heather@February 11th, 2010

How do you figure out calories burned based on your weight?

    12. Shar@February 11th, 2010

      Hi ,
I am 156lbs and want to reduce it to 140lbs if I have to get pregnant(as told by the doc)I just now got my new DVD (jillian\’s 30 day Shred) I wonder will this really work by just doing this or is that I have to combine some other type if exercise along with this.I wanna get to my results in a months time. Can anybody guide me thr\’ this plz!!

    13. Faye@February 19th, 2010

Hi, I am 115 lbs, so how many calories would I burn from the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred DVD? Please reply back. Thank you!

    14. Simron@March 7th, 2010

I\’m 127lbs, i do Level 2 & Level 3 in one go. really wnat to know how much calories it must be burn?
      Thank you

    15. ALLiE@March 10th, 2010

      13,581/60min=226.35 calories

This means you burn roughly 226 calories in each workout

    16. Amy@April 14th, 2010

I\’m glad to hear this works. I\’m 190 and have a trip to Florida planned in August and would love to be down to 140 by then. I\’m also using myplate.com. My brother and sister-in-law both used the calorie counting last year and they both lost 15-20lbs. Good luck everybody!

    17. kira@May 3rd, 2010

    18. Jamie@May 5th, 2010

well i love this dvd!!! i tell everyone i know to use it! i had a baby 2 years ago. i was 35 lbs heavier after giving birth but was almost immediately motivated to lose the weight. at the time i was living a pretty sedentary lifestyle. so, i found her 30-day shred workout on demand. i did the 30 days reaching level 2 (and it was tough to get there) plus followed my own strict diet. i saw immediate results but in the end lost a total of 23 lbs!!!! i was amazed! note: THIS WAS THE ONLY EXERCISE TOOL I USED FOR THAT 30 DAY STRETCH. well, i went on for about a year still 7 lbs heavier than before i was pregnant (and i was a lil overweight before too but i wanted to at least be the same size i once was). until recently i noticed the warm weather creeping and and remembered how bad i felt trying to hide my body during the past few summers…it was go time for me! i went out and bought the dvd. first i started walking every day and follwing my own diet again. then i moved up to part walking part running. then i added the dvd workout every other day it has been 17 days and i am already down 13 lbs!!!! and i eat 5 times a day (3 small meals and 2 snacks) never feel hungry drink lots of water and try to workout every day or every other day. i now weigh less than i did before giving birth and only have 15 more to go to reach my goal weight!! i am so proud of myself but can honestly say i would have never ever lost any weight without Jillian Michaels and her 30 day shred. i love it i love it i love it……..P.S. dont for one second think this video, or losing weight for that matter, is going to be easy. it takes motivation, determination, hard work, and dedication!!! but the results will come, just give it time. trust me.

    19. Blythe@June 24th, 2010

The DVD is not 27 minutes…. 3 min cardio x3, 2 min strength x 3 and 1 min stretching x 3 is 18 minutes… the DVD itself says it is 20 minutes. So the numbers need to be re-calculated for 18 minutes, not 27…

    20. Hannah@July 30th, 2010

      Blythe, there’s a 2-minute warm-up circuit. So it is 20.

    21. James@July 30th, 2010

I am a fit 59 year old male. I have done powerlifting competitions, and trained with weights for over 10 years. I consider myself to be stronger and more fit than the average male my age, and even stronger and fitter than many people half my age. However, I love the concept in this DVD. I am finding that in just 20 minutes I can increase my overall conditioning. I like the idea of combining stength, cardio, and abs in one workout. The field of fitness and nutrition can be a very perplexing one, but I think that Jullian is on to something. I am always looking for more effective ways of gaining my health and strength. This DVD is not only a great start, but it can be used at any fitness level. When a person gains more strength and conditoning, I would suggest using heavier weights, or working with a greater intensity.

    22. Cristina@August 2nd, 2010

I am 136 pounds 5′7 and 30 assuming my heart rate was at an 150 for the 27 minute workout level one. can someone tell me approximately how amny calories?

    23. savannah..@January 23rd, 2011

im about 200 pounds.. and how many calories will i burn?

    24. Kathy@March 17th, 2011

Hi im motivated now, i have been doing this off & on for almost a year & its tough but i like how i can see my strength improve quickly. But after reading jamies response i really want to get serious, i want to loose 9-14 pounds(now154)jamie you added walking & running how long did u do each for or any else, what do u think, im thinking maby 45 min -1 hr walk& 30 min run/jog should do it .

    25. Crystal@May 25th, 2011

I started this video a little over a month ago and have lost 15 pounds! I started off weigin 166.6 and now am at 151.00. I am a 27 years old female. This video is AWESOME! I do it everyday, except sometimes Sundays and to increase the weght loss I do circuit 1 and 2 back to back so that I am actually getting two circuits in as opposed to just one. The first day I did that I lost 3 pounds in ONE day! <no joke.

I went to the gym for the first time in years yesterday and did elliptycal and bike for an hour and a half total. I burned 487 calories altogether and by looking at how much I could have burned in the workout, the workout burns more faster and works the entire body!

I recommend this video to EVERYONE! Eat right and get plenty of sleep and I guarantee you will get results and fast!

    26. ashley@June 5th, 2011

i\’m 17 years old, 5\’5\’\’ and i did the level 1 of 30 day shred, only missing 3 days, with a starting weight of 193 and i lost a whopping 12 pounds. this is such a great workout and i encourage people who have struggled to do it. it\’s so easy to do the workout, and make sure to drink lots of water so your metabolism doesn\’t get sluggish. thank you jillian for changing my life (:

    27. Jessica@October 17th, 2011

I started The 30 minute shred when my baby was 8 wks old. I did it for 6 months and dropped 40lbs. Not only did I lose the weight, but my body was in the best shape of my life! I actually had people notice the shaping of my arms and they no longer waved bye-bye! My legs had definition and I felt fabulous! I worked my way from Level 1-3. My husband was deployed to Iraq at the time and when he came home a year later, he had a brand new wife ;) Jillian\’s workouts are AMAZING!

    28. Ashley@January 30th, 2012

I am 5\9 and weigh 260 lbs. I bought this DVD with a friend to kind of support each other to do it. I just completed my first day of Level one. I didnt realize how out of shape I was, I mean I knew I was out of shape but didnt realize how bad I actually was. Does anyone have an idea on how many Calories and such I burned with just one day of the level one? Also, how long should I stay on level one, just until it starts getting easier? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :D

    29. Katie@February 2nd, 2012

Ashley, I don\’t know about the calories, but I read that when you have limited to no soreness between workouts, is when you should move up to the next level.

    30. Ashlee@February 21st, 2012

      Hey everyone.
I just started the 30 day shred, I\’m 5\’1 and started at 189 after week 1 I am down to 186. I love the DVD. It keeps me motivated and its quick and challenging. I am ordering a couple other DVD\’s of hers namely the Yoga, and the Kickboxing and the Shed and Shred to mix it up a bit.

I\’m guessing that you are burning more calories as the weeks progress (in 30 Day shred) …can someone do the calculations for me of how many calories I am burning please?

Also I have a question for the people around my weight, are you having issues with doing the push ups? I am and it is very frustrating especially for the week 2 plan. I feel like it is difficult to hold up my own weight even with the modified version. Does anyone else have this problem or suggestions???

Thank you in advance for your help !

    33. Jimmy@March 12th, 2012

I LOVE this DVD. I thought this was just for women, but it is not true. I am more toned than ever and I am surprised to find out that none of you wear a heart rate monitor(HRM) while doing this exercise! I am burning anywhere from 395- 420 calories doing this workout, not to mention the after burn you get. If you are going to get a HRM make sure that you purchase one that attaches around the chest, you can see exactly what your heart rate is by the watch that comes with. I have a Timex one, it ran me about $60 on amazon. Best Purchase Ever. If I see that my heart rate is lowering it only makes me work that much harder. Plus it tells you EXACTLY how many calories you are burning! Keep up the great work, I know I will!!!

    34. Kayla@April 20th, 2012

Ashlee, I was about the same weight as you when I started and I struggled with the push ups a lot. I would alternate days where I would fight through it and do them and other days I would substitute in a different move more so ones that focused on abs or I would do modified jumping jacks with weights to keep my heart rate up. When I first started I did level 1 for two weeks and alternated level 1 and level 2 for the latter part of the month and dropped 10 pounds. The work out dvd’s are truly great and really give results! Cheers to you and good luck
